We believe that everything and everyone is precious and should be valued.

Constituted in 2024, our primary aim as a charity is to protect the environment and support our local community through environmental research, employability and training opportunities. We are passionate about developing projects that are accessible to everyone and empowering people to make a positive difference to their environment and their local community.

Our Story

Our charity was born out of the belief that everything and everyone is precious and should be valued.

Good Green Futures was created when a number of small charities decided to collaborate together to try to achieve something inspirational for Stirling, and Scotland more widely. In 2023, we successfully applied to Zero Waste Scotland for funding to look at setting up a large-scale reuse hub in Stirling City Centre. The funding enabled us to establish that there was keen interest amongst local charities and that we had support from Stirling Council and the University of Stirling to create a flagship planet-friendly shopping and leisure facility within the City Centre.

A public consultation indicated that our community was keen to have opportunities to shop more sustainably e.g. through having opportunities to repair items or borrow rather than buy.

Good Green Futures was set up primarily to help achieve this dream for Stirling and the Forth Valley region more widely.

Interim CEO

Donna Wood

Donna is our first employee! She has been involved in the circular economy sector for approximately 25 years, she graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2001 with a BSc Hons (1st Class) in Environmental Chemistry.  Donna was instrumental in the set up of the Stirling Reuse Hub for Transition Stirling, ensuring environmental compliance and gaining Revolve certification prior to opening. Donna has moved across to Good Green Futures, where she continues to work closely with Transition Stirling and a range of organisations across Forth Valley. Donna has a range of project management and technical experience with a focus on waste and resource management and the delivery of feasibility studies. Donna enjoys being outside with her family and dog (when the weather is warm!)

Chair

Lisa McCrone

Lisa has worked in the environmental field for over 20 years. After completing a MSc in Environmental Management at the University of Stirling, she worked for Keep Scotland Beautiful for almost 10 years supporting local authorities to implement recycling services.

After a brief spell at Scottish and Southern Energy, she joined Zero Waste Scotland and has since specialised in programme and project management. She is currently seconded to the Scottish Government to provide governance and programme management support to the Circular Economy and Producer Responsibility Division.

She enjoys spending time with her husband and kids and looking after their dog, chickens and guinea pigs.

Board Secretary

Morag Sorbie

Morag is the Volunteer and Employability Coordinator at the Transition Stirling Reuse Hub. Prior to joining the Stirling Reuse Hub, Morag worked in a customer service role for the past twenty years.

Morag has a passion for volunteering and the benefits that this brings to the community, she has been an avid volunteer from a young age, starting with being a Young Leader in the Girl Guide movement through to fundraising activities at university and now is very active with the local schools Parent Council and fundraising group alongside being the Board secretary of Good Green Futures.

Board Treasurer

Kate Hamilton

Kate is currently the project manager at the Stirling Reuse Hub, and was previously co founder and director of two innovative start-up companies. Successfully having researched, developed, and brought to market several products, across different sectors.

With a strong drive for innovation, Kate has won awards for: The Scotsman’s, Most Innovative Product award, Forth Valley Chamber’s New Business Award, and the Association of Scottish Businesswomen’s Young Business of the Year Award.

Outside of work, Kate enjoys walking and cycling and spending time with her new puppy.
